About Me

Hi!  My name is Kristen Pesnell.  I’ve been married to my amazingly handsome, helpful, and loving husband since June 2003.  In March 2007 I became a mommy for the first time, and in September 2008, I became a mommy once again.  I am currently a stay-at-home mom to my precious little girl and boy.  I live in a town just outside of Birmingham, Alabama during the school year, and during the summer months I live wherever my husband’s job takes us.  This summer we will be in Leesburg, VA, which is in Loudoun County not too far from Washington, D.C.

Sweet Serendipity is one of two blogs that I author.  Why the need for two blogs?  Well basically, this is my “business” blog and the other blog is my “family” blog.  After 18 months of keeping a “family” blog, I realized that there were often things I wanted to write about and share, but they were not really appropriate for that blog.  Friends and family had come to expect pictures of the kids or cute stories about what our family was up to.  I hated to type about some off the wall issue, and bore them to death.  Sadly, this meant that several writing ideas were brushed aside, and it‘s just wrong for an epiphany to be ignored.  So, one day I decided that I would start a 2nd blog, so I could write about whatever my heart desired!!!  And this, my friend, is the blog you have happened upon!

Sweet Serendipity is my way of writing to the world (or at least that is what I’m telling myself)!  This blog is my way of sharing recipes, reviews on books and products, and just anything else in between!  Serendipity is one of my favorite words because of its meaning:  a fortunate accident.  Who doesn’t like to bump into something wonderful accidentally?  By reading (and commenting…I LOVE comments) this blog you’ll find out all sorts of  Sweet Serendipity that you can pass on to others.

If you are interested, keep reading, and I’ll tell you a bit more about me.

First and foremost I am a Christian, and I am in awe every day that Jesus loves me.  He’s most certainly in the business of changing lives!  He changed mine, and he can change your life too.

Hobbies:
1. Writing - hence the 2 blogs and the fact that I have a Mass Communications degree.
2. Shopping - for anything…I even enjoy going to the grocery store, because it’s shopping.  It’s not an addiction to clothes, shoes or handbags, it’s an addiction to spending money.  My husband would love for you to contact him if you know a way to stop such an addiction:)
3. Couponing & Finding Deals - This hobby is helping to tame hobby #2.  I still get to shop, but I don’t necessarily have to spend as much to get what I want.  One great feeling is getting something and knowing that you got it for a steal!  Be certain that I’ll share any steals I happen upon!
4. Reading - My favorites include the Twilight Saga (Team Edward), anything by Nicholas Sparks.  I’m also, very slowly, reading through the books in Oprah’s Book Club.
5. Baking & Cooking - I’m not exceptionally good at either, but I love to eat, so I keep trying!  That’s why when you find a recipe on this blog you can rest assured that it must be pretty easy to make or else I would not be attempting it!

Other random facts:
1. My favorite color is black, because I think it is elegant.
2. My favorite movies include Twilight, New Moon, Message In A Bottle, & Serendipity.
3. My favorite television shows are Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, & Criminal Minds.
4. My favorite songs are How He Loves Us by the David Crowder Band, This Will Be by Natalie Cole, Born Again by Third Day, Moon River by Henry Mancini & The Way You Look Tonight by Tony Bennett.
5. I am a dog person.  I have a Pekingese named Molly that I have had since October 2002.
6. I am an Alabama Crimson Tide football fan, and nothing could ever change that.
